Mini Fastnet (4 days double-handed race /600NM) Rank: 18th/53
From Douarnenez to the Fastnet rock lighthouse in Ireland via the Scilly Islands and the western tip of Wales.
Named after the mythical Fastnet race held every two years by the Royal Ocean Racing Club of England, the “Mini Fastnet” is held every year and embraces nearly the same course as the English Fastnet Race does. It is a very technical race that crosses many complicated meteorological zones. Jean and Erwan Pellen (his teammate for the race) negotiated the transitions in an interesting way, locking a solid 3rd place in the old generation boats as early as the middle of the race, when rounding the Fastnet Rock in Western Ireland.
Their 18th place in the middle of a fleet of brand new (and faster) boats is a nice conclusion to the nearly over racing season.
