Mid-Caps Women Board Index 2017
Feminization of corporate Boards of medium and large size companies in France is increasing under the impact of the French Copé-Zimmermann law setting out balanced representation of women and men on corporate boards of directors and supervisory boards.
What is the situation of French mid-caps in 2017?
Our second annual Mid-Caps Women Board Index carried out on the basis of a sample of mid-caps companies listed on the Euronext Paris Market ‒ compartments A, B and C ‒ in March-April 2017, prior to the early spring General Meetings, shows a significantly growing percentage of women on boards compared to 2016.
- Boards in the full sample have 30% women
- 51% companies (vs. 20% last year) of our sample meet the mandatory 40% threshold.
In light with the many new women appointments to Boards this year, most French mid-caps should fully meet the required quota on 1 January 2018. Furthermore, with the widening legislative scope that will be progressively extended to the companies with more than 250 employees with effect from 2020, a clear trend towards increasing feminization of corporate Boards in France would be expected on 1 January 2018.
