Vice President Engineering, aerospace leader
Client
Or client is a 14 B€ multinational aerospace, security & defence equipment supplier, organise in global divisions. For their aerospace division, we were mandated to confidentially recruit their navigation product development vice president, in charge of a development centre with 300 engineers managing highly sensitive aerospace patented technology.
Role
After the aerospace division had won major equipment contracts for they key airframe manufacturers in the previous 2 years, the navigation development centre had a strong load perspective. The new vice president objective was to (i) shorten product development cycles whilst (ii) introducing several key breakthrough technologies requested by their customers.
Candidates
We had agreed to extensively cover French speaking candidates, with leadership experience of large embedded electronics product development teams. After having thoroughly investigated all major aerospace equipment suppliers, we focussed on automotive equipment suppliers which proved to be a very fertile hunting area of highly qualified candidates with solid motivations to move to the aerospace sector.
Outcome
We recruited a seasoned executive, with 10 years experience in managing large embedded electronics development team for a major automotive manufacturer. Although he had no aerospace experience before, he immediately brought new perspectives from a more advanced industry with similar technical issues and was successfully induced in the company.
